Travis Albert Circle of Friends
As a life-long resident of the South Shore, Rick Burr and J-Corp are proud to support the Travis Albert Circle of Friends, a local charitable organization.
Background
Rick grew up with the organization’s founders, Brian and Lisa Albert. They were neighbors and classmates, and continued their friendship as they grew, got married, and built their families. At the very young age of 4, Brian and Lisa’s son Travis Albert began having seizures, and after years of medical visits, was finally diagnosed with “Batten Disease,” a rare neurodengenerative disease. Doctors estimated he would only live until age 7. The diagnosis was heart wrenching.
Committed to providing their son with the best possible life in the time they had together, the Alberts adapted with a new motto – TRAVIS GOES WHERE WE GO. Even as the family fought the disease, they took vacations and enjoyed activities so that Travis missed nothing. Against the odds, Travis lived until the age of 13, and passed away at a family beach house, with many of his extended relatives at his side.
The Travis Albert Circle of Friends
The Travis Albert Circle of Friends was created to carry on Travis’s memory and to give back some of what was given to him so generously. To support these efforts, The Travis Albert Poker Run was created and now celebrates over 15 years of family-friendly fundraising.
One of Travis’s favorite things was the 4th of July Parade, so every year, the organization donates prize money and a trophy to the best children’s float in his honor. The Travis Albert Circle of Friends Memorial Scholarship began in 2011, the year Travis would have graduated high school. So far, over $250,000 in scholarships have been awarded.

Travis taught us all that “Quality of Life” is what is most important and to always “Hope & Believe”. And so, as we always kept to our words when Travis was with us, we will always keep to our words now.
