A native of the South Shore, Rick Burr started working in the excavating business right out of high school. By 1999, he had over 10 years experience and was invited to help build a new excavating business with his long-time friend and colleague. The two friends built the business together as they also built their families, over 15 years strong.
In 2015, Rick founded his own company, J-Corp Unlimited, to create a legacy for his family. The name itself, J-Corp, is built from the three J’s in his life, Jenna, Jacob, and John, Rick’s daughter, son, and godson. For a time, Jenna and Jacob both worked alongside their father. While Jacob now works for the state of Massachusetts, Jenna is still a key member of the J-Corp team today.
J-Corp started as a small trucking business. However, Rick was committed to his customers and community, providing essential work on jobs that the bigger companies simply weren’t interested in. Word got out and spread quickly, and soon, J-Corp expanded into excavating, adding more equipment and services.
